EIRA
A happy, tiny snowflake knocked on the window. Everyone in his family called her Eira because of her sharp, unique shape. Winter was coming, and the air was growing colder. The wind blew harder, rattling the windows. Eira hid herself in the corner, feeling both excited and nervous.
She wanted to see the children outside and tell them all about Winter who was on her way. Each day grew shorter and colder, and Eira knew her arrival was near. Mrs. Winter was expected on December 21st—her special day, marking the first day of the new season: Winter.
Eira shivered with excitement. "Only a few more days until Mrs. Winter arrives!" she thought. Tiny snowflake peeked through the frosty window, watching the world outside transform. The trees stood bare, their branches covered in glittering frost, while the rooftops wore a soft blanket of snow. Children bundled up in scarves and hats, their laughter ringing as they built snowmen and slid down icy hills.
Eira dreamed of joining them, to tell them all the wonderful things about Winter: the magic of snowflakes, the coziness of warm fires, and the beauty of the silent, starry nights.
But Eira wasn’t like the other snowflakes, who danced freely in the wind. She was a little afraid. "What if I melt too soon?" she worried.
The wind, who had been listening to Eira's thoughts, whispered gently, "Don't be afraid, little one. You are part of Winter's magic, and every snowflake has its moment to shine."
Encouraged, Eira finally let go of his hiding place. She swirled with the wind, twirling and spinning, until she landed on the tip of a child's mitten. The little boy marveled at Eira's intricate, sparkling shape.
"Look at this snowflake!" the boy said, holding Eira up to his friends. "It's perfect!"
Eira felt proud and happy. In that moment, she knew she had shared a little piece of Winter’s magic. And as Mrs. Winter arrived, blanketing the world in frosty wonder, Eira sparkled brightly, knowing she was exactly where she was meant to be.
